Six years building enterprise platforms and design systems for the world's biggest brands

Context

From 2013 to 2019 I worked at WPP / Hogarth Worldwide as a Senior Product Designer, embedded in long-running enterprise engagements for some of the world's largest organisations. This wasn't agency work in the traditional sense — it was deep, sustained product design inside complex corporate environments.

Approach

Each engagement required immersion — understanding internal politics, legacy systems, user workflows, and business constraints before proposing any design direction. I learned to balance ambition with pragmatism: pushing for modern UX standards while respecting the realities of enterprise delivery.

I introduced new tools and processes wherever I could — moving teams from Photoshop to Sketch, establishing design systems, and creating developer handoff documentation that actually got used.

Key Clients

HSBC — Led product design for a global digital asset management platform, enabling worldwide campaign asset exchange across restricted regions.

Johnson & Johnson — Designed enterprise content and asset management systems serving global marketing teams.

Nike — Contributed to digital asset workflows and platform UX for one of the world's most design-conscious brands.

GSK, Unilever, and others — Delivered UX improvements, design systems, and brand-aligned UI across multiple enterprise platforms.

Outcomes

Across six years I built a deep understanding of how large organisations actually use digital products — and how to design systems that survive contact with real enterprise complexity. The work was never glamorous, but it was foundational: scalable design systems, validated user journeys, and platforms that served tens of thousands of users daily.

Tools & Methods

Sketch, Zeplin, Axure, Figma, design systems, user research, usability testing, brand guidelines, agile methodology, cross-team remote collaboration.
